How to Reduce Uric Acid through Diet?

Health & Fitness

Everything that you eat has an impact on your body and that’s how the fuel system works. If you eat more and the food that you consume is high in energy but you don’t expect this food eventually you will see the impact on your health. On the contrary, not eating enough food will also have an impact. However, sometimes the food quality and the food content end up impacting your overall health. People who consume high amounts of fat or animal-based protein usually report a different spectrum of diseases. This is mainly because the human body has a balance system which is called the digestive system. Everything that you eat is cut into smaller compounds and then these compounds are digested to make energy packets. Once this process is done, the rest of the food items are sent out of the body when the body declares it as a waste product. In the case of a natural-based diet, this waste product is much higher in ratio as compared to when you rely on a plant-based diet.

What Is Uric Acid?

Uric acid is a waste product that comes from the digestion of purines. Most purines are found in animal-based food content which is the reason people who consume a high level of animal-based diet complain about uric acid. Some of the main food components that have high uric acid include:

  •       Red meat
  •       Beer
  •       Organ meat like heart, liver, etc.
  •       Sardine
  •       Shellfish
  •       Legumes
  •       poultry

Once you eat this food, your body will digest the purines. Usually filtering out the uric acid is very easy and you will be able to do so through urine. However, if you consume a lot of purine or if you only rely on animal-based food for a long time, your body will not be able to excrete the waste material fast enough. Eventually, the uric acid gets built up in the body and your blood will show a high indication of uric acid. This built-up can cause issues like:

  •       Painful joints
  •       Inflammation in bones
  •       Hyperuricemia
  •       Swollen feet
  •       Mobility issues

Eventually, if the uric acid stays deposited for a long time this will impact the organs’ health as well as the health of your body. Some of the main ways this will impact your body includes:

  •       Uric acid can impact the function of the kidney causing kidney failure
  •       Uric acid can also cause diabetes type 2
  •       Uric acid can cause hypothyroidism
  •       Sometimes it can work as a contributor to cancer
  •       Uric acid can also cause psoriasis

How to Reduce Uric Acid through Diet?

Balance Your Sugar Content

Sugar means high calories and according to experts the amount of sugar you consume will impact your health. Moreover, the high sugar content will also impact digestion and the level of uric acid. There are so many different studies that indicate the importance of plant-based natural sugar as compared to processed sugar.

Rely on fiber

Fiver is a very good component that will help you absorb all the extra uric acid and cholesterol helping you improve your digestion, bowel movement, and your health as well. With the help of fiver, you will be able to digest better and faster as well. This also reduces the chance of cancer and other digestion-based issues.

Increase the Amount of Water

Most of the uric acid that you will have in your body will be excreted through urine. This means your kidney needs enough supply of water that can get rid of all the extra uric acid that you have in your blood. With a good amount of water your kidneys will wash up everything and with every urine cycle, you will get rid of uric acid.

Reduce Alcohol

Alcohol has a lot of uric acids especially if you consume beer. If you have a high level of uric acid in the blood and you still consume alcohol your body will struggle with the excretion of the byproducts and eventually, this will further raise the level of uric acid. These are the reasons people will tell you to avoid alcohol.

Maintain a Good Weight

Your weight has a direct impact on your bodily health. When you have a high-fat content in your body, your other bodily functions will be suppressed and this will eventually cause strain on your health. Moreover, fat content is directly related to the uric acid so you will see an increase in the uric acid as well.

Add Vitamin C

Vitamin c is very important for your overall health and digestion. However, vitamin c is also very important in burning calories, getting rid of extra fat, and helping you digest things in a much better way, moreover, if you consume a good amount of vitamin c you will be able to get rid of uric acid faster.

Bottom Line

To sum it all up, it all comes down to a healthy diet and a good lifestyle. If you want to live longer and also improve your quality of life, you have to look at ways that can help you work on your overall body and its health. This is not just limited to the fat content in your body or how much food you consume but also what type of food you consume. Your diet must have all seven components so that your body can function properly. Missing out on any one of these components will eventually impact your overall health so you need to make sure you are able to consume all the important components in a good ratio.
